CARB VOTES UNANIMOUSLY TO STOP DEISEL DEATH!

AS SEEN IN

LOS ANGELES TIMES

Six out of the top 10 cities in the nation for diesel soot exposure are located in California. The excessive exposure of this pollution to communities of color is one of the clearest examples of environmental racism. A “yes” vote by CARB members will help these residents live longer, healthier lives.

Supporting pollution-free truck technologies is also good for businesses and jobs. Fleets and truck owners will save money over the life of their trucks by cutting fuel and maintenance costs. Truck drivers will be given overdue labor protections to prevent exploitation through “misclassification.” And, stronger electric truck standards catalyze investment and market growth that support good clean economy jobs.

CARB has the opportunity to clean up our air, save businesses money, protect drivers and create good jobs.

LEADING THE CHARGE FOR ELECTRIC TRUCKS

As the transportation sector moves towards a zero-emissions future, fleet operators and municipalities have made significant strides in building out electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This collection highlights a handful of the many successful medium- and heavy-duty infrastructure projects that have already been deployed across California. The resources below demonstrate the diverse public, private and utility investments for ZEV infrastructure that will support scaled infrastructure deployment.

Forty-four Labor, Environmental Justice, Health, Business and Clean Air Groups Across California Support Adopting the Advanced Clean Fleets Standard

“The immediate passage of the current proposal is the surest path of progress toward realizing significant benefits to:

  • Human health

  • Climate action

  • Economic

  • Environmental justice

We are thrilled to support the Air Resources Board in its swift passage, and to continue to collaborate on all the work ahead”

Why Lowering the Advanced Clean Fleet (ACF) Tractor Fleet Threshold to 10 is Necessary and Feasible

A new white paper from expert advocates finds that reducing the fleet size threshold for tractors to 10 in the high priority portion of the proposed ACF rule will:

  • Reduce NOx and PM 2.5 emissions by 16% and GHG emissions by 13% for tractors.2

  • Significantly reduce driver misclassification for fleets from 10-50 by being protected by the “common ownership and control” language in the rule.

WE NEED MORE ELECTRIC TRUCKS FASTER

HOW

This is a historic opportunity to slash pollution with strong policy.

WHY

Electric trucks will help families living in “diesel death zones.”
